Bruce​ Retief

Born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa, I found my niche in composing, arranging and producing for various high-end orchestral projects. I have composed music for documentaries for Discovery Channel and National Geographic, and I've composed the score for a number of local and Hollywood productions . I have had the privilege of recording  scores around the world, from India, to South Africa to Hungary and the US.  Amongst others I have received an Annie Award Nomination for best score in an Animated feature, and have won a SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award) for best film score. 

In recent years I have tried my hand at more than just composing for film but also producing. In 2022 I completed my first feature film, "1960", which I wrote and produced. It opened the Durban film festival and won the award for best South African feature film. It is currently screening on DSTV.
